Started taking Lisinopril approx. 6 years. ago. Shortly afterwards I started a spiral downwards for no apparent reason. Did not connect this med. Shortly after starting it I was put on Synthroid for low thyroid. Started having loss of balance, dizziness, vision problems, muscle and nerve pain. B/P went up instead of going down. Have been to every type of Dr. (Neurologist, Dermatologist, Endocrinologist, Internist) and every nerve & muscle test and blood work came back negative. I have extreme cold in my hands and feet, increased back pain. headaches. This past week I have broken out in a rash on my torso and down both legs. The doctors answers are that I'm suffering from depression. The irony is that when the symptoms first started I questioned if I could be having a reaction to the medication and they flat out said no. After reading some of the comments as of today I am discontinuing the Lisinopril and will searce for something natural. I'm fed up with doctors and really short on cash from all the money spent trying to find an answer.

in the book Good Pills, Bad Pills, the authors (doctors all) warn that any symptoms, problems, etc that develop after starting a drug should be attributed to the drug and if the medication isn't immediately necessary to save your life, you should discontinue it for a while as a test.
doctors know this and yet, they continue to downplay the possible role of the medication and spend thousands of insurance dollars searching for other culprits

Not surprised you're suffering from Depression. This drug causes it for sure and many other things. Have you noticed mental sluggishness, memory loss, confusion? If not, eventually you will. I have strong reason to believe this drug is shrinking the brain (faster in some people, slower in others) and causing different forms of dementia...aka, Alzheimers, or Frontal Dementia's. My husband began this drug in April of 2007 and by Sept 07 he was in full blown depression. Never took a drug in his life other than aspirin. Now, he goes from BP meds to an Anti Depressants. Read about my post from October 2008. Needless to say, I've done my research...these drugs are causing more harm than good and the Doctors are CLUELESS. They are "in the dark", listening to these Pharmaceutical Reps and prescribing away. Get off this drug and research anything else you're taking. If you can stop taking them...do it. After 17 months on this medication, he retired because he couldn't concentrate, focus, and had significant short term memory loss. He will never be 100%.

Good that you stopped to taking this drug that cause many side effects . . there are natural products for high blood pressure issues, etc. . . .instead of taking all these drugs that drs. continue to push.
