Unfortunately, I have suffered with the side effects from Avelox and Prednisone combination being administered to me over three years ago. I have suffered everything from hair loss, to paranoia, to ms systems that include muscle weakness and soreness and numbness and tingling. After suffering soooooo long and being hospitalized over 6 times, a neurologist finally did an EMG on me today and said that all of my problems over the last three years have been a direct result of the Avelox attacking my immune system. He said that the dr. gave me a medication to fight a world war when I was only fighting a small battle. I'm glad it's not ms, but I'm really mad tha my Dr. gave me this drug so that he could get a kick-back from a drug rep. It makes me sick! I am in so much pain. I have found that changing my diet has helped tremendously. I have eliminated all gluten, dairy and sugar. You also have to make sure all the meat you eat has not been given antibiotics -- especially poulty. Poultry is often fed quinolones. Tap water also has quinolones found in it. So be careful what you drink as well. Basically, water is the only thing I drink but, I try to get filtered water. I take vitamins and bilberry and grape seed extract also help. It's so hard to face. But, you can do it. Since being on the diet I have been able to see a tremendous change in my symptoms, except prior to my menstral flow. But, because the avelox stays in your nerve and muscle tissue long after it is out of your blood stream, it effects a person more during that time of the month. Sorry to be the bearer of bad new. However, I hope somehow my experience will help someone else find out what's wrong with them sooner. Give them an opportunity to change their diet and get some relief quicker than I did. It's a shame they allow this drug to be prescribed. The neurologist said that nerves only repair themselves 1 to 2 milimeters per day -- and nerves are really long. So, it could take YEARS more for me to be okay, if ever! However, it could be worse! I'm just thankful it's not really MS. I'm not real happy with my docter right now but, I am looking forward to tomorrow.
