I started Wellbutrin XL about a month ago. I had a lot of trouble sleeping after about a week. I didn't feel tired at all. I just saw my doctor a few days ago and he switched me to Wellbutrin SR. He said that it doesn't stay in your system as long so I should be able to sleep. Has anyone tried this? Let me know. Thanks!

I am on the generic SR and I actually like it. I haven't notice a lot of issues sleeping, in fact I think for the most part I do sleep pretty well (with the occasional nightly wake up, of course). The first week or two that I was on it I had issues falling asleep and I didn't get much sleep (Maybe 4-5 hours), but I always woke up energized and ready to go, so it wasn't like I was a walking zombie (or that I felt robbed of my precious sleep). I have actually never felt so awake. However, that did tamper off after a couple of weeks. So you won't wake up quite as energized but you will probably sleep better. Hope this helps!

Hi there. I posted this thought earlier on a Wellbutrin thread, but will post again because it is SO important.

If you have high blood pressure, even just slightly elevated, beware of Wellbutrin. Get checked regularly. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the potassium level in your blood checked periodically. They do not put enough warnings about this on the Wellbutrin packaging, but the drug can cause severe hypokalemia (low blood potassium). It happened to me, sending me to the ER in terror. One case like that would be a peculiarity. But just within my small circle of acquaintances, it also happened to two others: my business partner's then-boyfriend (he went into a seizure, had to be kept in the hospital overnight), and one of my clients (also spent a night in the hospital).

If anything like this has happened to anyone who reads this, please drop me a note to the "Private Mail Me." I'd like to hear about your experience.
