I had my Mirena put in close to 2 yeas ago after the birth of my son. I started to have extreme weight gain, mood swings and bloating. I was constantly misreable. Finally I decided to have it removed and my strings were no where to be seen. The only way to get it out was to dialate my cervix after having been shot up with novacaine. It was the most uncomfortable and painful experience. I will never, ever, recommend this to any other woman. My doctors assured me no weight gain and no side effects, but it was all a lie. I finally had a nurse at the physician's office confide in me that she too used to have those symptoms and decided to have hers out. She said many women come back to have it removed. I'd rather take a pill every day than have that put back into my body. It should be removed from the marketplace as a method of contraception!
