I have been on the Yasmin now for nearly three months. I have no energy, chest pains, shortness of breath, tenderness of my breast, ribs and I feel REALLY TIRED even after having a nights rest. I thought this was perhaps after having a toddler and using my energy up during the day from lifting him and swinging him. I feel slightly anxious about different things in my life, sometimes depressed. I though my headaches and chest pains were stress/work related and so was the fatigue. I am popping vitamin tablets like it is an addiction thinking that if I don't have them I am going to feel WORSE( anxious/depressed). I also could not understand why I was feeling so nauseous and having stabbing pains in my stomach. - thought again this was just stress related - acid build up. I am going to see my Doctor today and get off this tablet!!!! I would rather have the odd pimple on my face than feel like this.

I too used to be on Yasmin and had A LOT of these terrible side effects!! I demanded that my Doctor switch my pill and he put me on "Ortho-Cyclen 28". It gives you the same amount of hormones every, single day .... that way you are not taking different amounts of hormones on certain days. My Doctor told me that this BCP is one with the least amount of side effects and also one that people have the least amount of problems on. I was thinking to myself ... well then why put people on all of these "newer" BCP's???

Also, what I came to find out is, Birth Control Pills cause "B12 Deficiencies". When you have B12 Deficiencies OR Anemia, or like in my case, BOTH B12 Deficiency and Anemia ... it also causes a lot of the same side effects that you are having. I would first demand your Doctor test your B12 and Iron/Ferritin Levels .... then have him switch your Birth Control Pills to "Ortho-Cyclen". Then, for right now if I was you, I would start taking "Sublingual B12 Tablets, which are B12 Tablets that you stick under your tongue and they disolve. These are the best B12 Tablets to take. The Sublinguals work a lot better than a B12 pill that you swallow. You can purchase these online or at your local drug store. I take one "1000 mcg" tablet per day of B12. B12 really makes you feel a lot better!! Especially if you take one every, single day. You will start feeling better within like 3 days. Also, I would start taking one Iron Pill a day, you can either take "One Slow FE" tablet per day ... or you can take One Flinstone Vitamin a day. I buy the Flinstones Vitamins (yes for kids), that have extra Iron in them. These work great and do NOT give you stomach upset like some Iron Pills can give you.

I highly recommend "Ortho-Cyclen 28" for anyone who needs to be on BCP's!! Hope this helps!!

helenp1:

I also experienced terrible side effects from Yasmin, and so have many other women. I agree with a lot of what tifferz said, however, I no longer take birth control pills due to what Yasmin did to me.

But I also wanted to mention that there is a site called the "Yasmin Survivors Forum" (if you type it into your search engine, it should come up in the results). There, you will find many, many women who have gone through the same side effects as you, including and especially the anxiety, but also the fatigue, chest pains, and more. The women there offer support, advice, and help to those who were on Yasmin and those coming off of it.

In the meantime, I wish you the best of luck and good health.
