Hey I had the mirena put in after my second child almost 5 years ago. I imediately did a 180. I was crabby all the time and no sex drive, gained weight and yes cramping also. I didn't have any bleeding for the 3 moths that I had but for 2 years after I had it removed I had periods that lasted two sometimes three months long and were very heavy and painful. I hated having it and my doctor had told me that I was the first person that had ever complained to her about it! Almost five years later with no birth control and we have managed not to get pregnant on our own! I will say that I had asked for the IUD but that is because I had one after my first child and never experienced any problems with it but it was the older version made of copper that contained no horomones. All that it did was maybe make me have heavier periods.
