I had my Mirena removed in August 09 after having it in place for 3 full years. I used to have regular periods both on the pill and using nothing at all but with the Mirena in place I spotted the first 3 months then didn't have a period at all for 33 months. Ten days after removal I bleed very heavy and had a lot of what I consider large clots for about 5 days. I am on the pill now and it has not regulated my periods at all. I have not had a period since August and I am very sure I am not pregnant. I never realized how many side effects and problems the Mirena caused until I had it removed and now my body is still trying to straighten itself out. I thought I loved Mirena when I was using it but now I know different and how evil it is for the female body. Good luck. I wish I would have been better educated before using.
Oh my goodness this sounds just like me. I have only had mine for a week and I feel terrible my bra's are all tight I also work out and feel disgusting and very fat. I am calling this week and have this removed terrible cramps everyday. My doctor also acts like it is me and i need to give it a chance. This is my chance I am done. When they did remove this did it hurt because it killed going in. I am glad your feeling better. Glad I read your post.
Don't despair...removal was a breeze - I actually had to ask the doc "are you done" cause I didn't even feel more than what was like a tampon removal. NOTHING like the excruciating pain of insertion...
Be forewarned, though; I bled heavily, passed clots and had horrendous cramping the days following removal. It all stopped about two days ago - and I am crampfree, my jeans feel looser already, my mood feels steadier and I feel like having sex with my husband!!!!! The breasts are still larger and the midsection looks somewhat swollen but my face feels better (less swollen) and I have only hope. Glad was able to offer some support - this site saved my life - I thought I was crazy...
PS>>> don't let them try and bulldoze you into anything - you are the consumer not just a patient and despite my doctor's treating me like a patient/baby I forged ahead and spoke my truth. Just so you know, I am a doctor myself (different specialty, though) and did not put in my post for anonymity and because did not want lots of medical questions coming at me. I know very little about hormones and female reproduction so for the sake of this site was, like you and everyone else, a patient who had horrific results from that little white contraption!!!
Best of luck!
