I had mine put in about a month ago and after 2 days of really horrible cramping, it went away and other than mild spotting (which several people I know who have them have told me with probaby last a few months) things are fine. I have not gained any weight, my skin is not have any issues beyond what I normally do. After I came to this site (while I was having the really horrible cramping) I freaked out and thought, "What have I done?" After asking around and talking to people I know who actually have them and a friend from church who is a doctor and has put them in, the only person I have found with any issues whatsoever is one person that my friend said asked to have hers removed due to mood issues. I have had one period so far which was a little lighter than normal. My doctor told me that would probably last for several months but that after that a good bit of people actually stop having them or only have them for a few days. Bottom line, just try not to worry and hope that you are one of the people who is in the majority and has no problems with it. I hope you are! Good luck. I actually come back to the site to check for posts like this occasionally because I know how freaked out I was when I read all these horror stories! Not that I doubt any one of them, but I really do think they are the exception. Hang in there!
Hi there, i dont think they are just horror stories as such, everyone is different and will react differently to the Mirena, i know from experience that i gave it more than enough time to settle down, even my doctor couldnt believe how ill and suicidal the Mirena made me.
Also, from reading the posts on here, you will realise that it doesnt always happen overnight, the most recent posts are from people saying how good it was for them when they first got it and that its later on, in some cases over two years down the line, that they realise the effect it has had on them, lets hope you arent one of them.
