I forgot to add breaking out like a teenager! I'm 26 not 14 for God's sake!
If you didn't have these issues prior to the Mirena then I think you can safely say that the Mirena has caused them. I had many of the same side effects as you....palpitations, dizziness, total inability to concentrate, cystic acne, bloating....all due to the hormonal imbalance caused by Mirena. They can say all they want that the hormone stays local but my blood tests showed otherwise. Also, progestins can really mess up your GI system, that is a fact. I had it removed after 5 months and all symptoms went away except my period did not return and I went into premature menopause at 43 (hot flashes started 2 months after removal). Good luck to you, I don't think it's worth it for those of us who don't tolerate it well.
I just want to tell you how happy I am that you posted on this site. The side effects that you are experiencing are very similar to what I have been going through for the last 3 yrs. I feel like I have finally found someone else who understands what I have been going through for the last 3 yrs. I had my mirena put in sept, 2006 and my body has become something I don't even recognize. I am extremely bloated all the time and it hurts every time I eat and use the bathroom. I keep on thinking maybe I have IBS as well but it doesn't make any sense because the symptoms showed up after I had the Mirena put in. I thought it might be food sensitivities so I got tested and have been trying to cut those foods out but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have tried all sorts of natural remedies but it never seems to go away. I have gained 40 pounds since I the Mirena put in and I have a difficult time concentrating and focusing on anything. I also get dizziness, depression and irritability you mentioned. I also have been experiencing a sharp pulling or stinging in my uterus at times. I wonder if you have noticed a drastic decline in your immune system. I have never been as sick as I have been in the last three years of my life. I seem to always be getting sick. I can all trace these changes to three years ago and I'm finally sure after reading your post and this site that my problems are from the effects of the Mirena. I hope that you are able to get your out and that your side effects go away. I'm determined to get my taken out. Good luck!!
Thank you both for your responses! I've made an appointment to get it out on November 12th. I'll let you know what happens. Please keep me updated as well! I am so sorry we all have to go through this and I only hope that once we get these darn things out of us, our symptoms go away!!
