You mentioned this all started with a serious lung infection. I would advise you check what antibiotics you were given in the hospital. There are many people suffering the same type of mysterious, long lasting side effects after being given fluoroquinolone antibiotics (Avelox, Cipro, Levaquin, etc.). It might not be the Prednisone. Google "fluoroquinolone research.
Thanks for the input and I did google it but i didnt take that.
Fact is they called it an infection but it was really due to an over reactive immune system.\
\I contracted bronchitis and instead of my immune system firing off a few round to kill it, it threw in a grenade which killed it but at the same time made my lungs smell up.
Then my immune system thought my lungs were the enemy and started attacking my lungs and killing me so the started Prednisone in high doses to reduce inflammation to trick my immune system into thinking it was gone.
It worked to a tee after 21 day in the hospital.
Sense then I have been tapering back in the last 5 months from 60 mg now down to 10mg but the brain fog is still pretty bad and my eyes are blurry off and on,
I only pray I get my eye site back and the confused retarded feeling goes away once im totally off the steroid from hell.
After being on 20 mg for 2 years, with ALL the side-effects-it took 18 months to get off----After I was down to 5 mg , it was EXTYREMELY hard!! I hurt all over-- when that happened , I would just stay on that dosage till I felt better and then down a half- mg for 2 weeks ,or more. I have been off for 3 months now and I feel GREAT!!!!! the weight started coming off at 8 mg, I have lost 34 pounds and have 20 more to go. It is so slow now ( 2 lb a month) but when I look back , I can see that it really adds up. Keep in there , there IS light at the end of the tunnel.
