My whole life 120/70. Two months ago 160/103 wtf. I am on my second month of lisinopril. I am pretty sure it has caused me to be absent minded and grouchy. I was never these before. Worse yet for me is that I am a life long runner. I live to exercise so that I can enjoy the more fun things in life. beer wine and good food. ( I am 47 years old) I ran my first marathon 26.2 miles in January. I now have trouble running three miles with out getting fatigued, dizzy and winded. This sucks!!! any advice would be appreciated.

Well, if you're feeling absent minded now, it will get worse and then you'll become depressed. Before you know it, you'll be on anti-depressants. Within 6 months you'll go from no drugs to more drugs. Are you feeling mental sluggishness, confusion, loss of memory? I suspect you are or will be very soon. Yes, advice...get off this poison. Read more posts on Lisinopril...and No, you don't have to wean off...just stop. My husband took this crap for 17 months and he's never been the same. It'll take 3-4 weeks to be out of your system completely. Hope for no residual permanent damage. Find out why your BP was spiked 2 months ago if you've had normal BP. Maybe just a fluke and doesn't require a drug.
Good luck, but get the hell off this drug.

Bellabear is right, as usual. . . . There are many natural products/alternatives for high blood pressure or any health issues . . .instead of taking drugs that cause side effects . . .and make $ for drs and drug co's.

I have taken 10mg/day of Lisinopril for about 18 months. It lowers my blood pressure from about 140/90 to 125/80, which I consider a nice but fairly trivial amount. What is much more effective at holding blood pressure low is dealing with whatever it is that is pushing it up. In my case stress at work. So now I have forced myself to "lighten up". As for side effects: definitely a dry cough, definitely fatigue, and (probably because of fatigue), I can easily get grumpy and fed up (not proper depression, just "blue"). I have decided to stop taking the drug, to take more exercise (albeit I go to the gym twice a week now), and to "lighten up" even more. I have always been rather suspicious of drugs, and for good reason, I have a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry. I don't recommend everyone do this - I'm not a medical doctor, but I'm going to stop Lisinopril for at least a couple of months and see how I feel and if my BP goes through the roof..
