i hope you will stop taking this before something worse happens. first of all, these really strong antibiotics are for life threatening infections, bot for sinus infections. does your doctor even know if your infection is bacterial, viral or fungal? did he culture your mucus? if not, how does he know that you need an antibiotic in the first place, let alone such a strong, dangerous one?
they give this stuff out like its candy. you can get rid of a sinus infection by using a neti pot and doing a sinus rinse with salt water. you can juice it up by adding a drop of a non-alcohol based disinfectant mouth wash.
if it is bacterial, you can take zithromax or augmentum, antibiotics that might cause stomach upset but not stroke or tendon rupture.
i have a friend who just had a levaquin induced stroke. she started taking the stuff last tuesday for a respiratory infection. on friday, after i found out what she was taking, i called her and begged her to stop taking it, to call her doctor and insist on something else. she thought it was helping and continued with it. she had a stroke over the weekend.
levaquin, cipro and avelox are all in the same family of drugs. do you really want to risk a stroke for a lousy sinus infection?
please, please, she didn't listen. i hope you will
Propsguy,
Thanks for your note. I hope your friend will be ok. There's no way I was going to take another dose today, not after yesterday's episode and what I read about. Lesson learned. I just need to take the time to take better care of myself and not be so quick to pop pills....I know better, I'm just super busy right now with work and 4 kids. Thanks for the reminder that I needed!
