I started having severe heartburn in August with chest pain, pain with burping, nausea and one episode of vomiting. I have been a nurse for almost thirty year so felt it was not heart related and was a GI problem. I started OTC Prilosec for 2 weeks symptoms were better but not completely gone, so I made a Dr. appointment. I was sent for a EGD on October 20th. I had moderate gastritis all biopsies were negative. I was given a Rx for Omeprazole 20mg twice a day. My GI symptoms have improved. What I have experienced is SEVERE FATIGUE I'm asleep in my chair by 6:30 pm and in bed by 8:30! Also increase in hot flashes, palpatations, headache, I have severe TMJ with degenerative arthritis in the joints that has also been worse. I have also felt more depressed and have noticed that I'm not sleeping as well and feel somewhat anxious on occassion. My only other medication is a blood pressure pill. As of today I am stopping the omeprazole! Even though I read the side effects and knew these were listed I never dreamed they would be so severe. I will deal with my symptoms by limiting triggers and see what happens. Hopefully I will be feeling better by the holidays because right now I'm to tired to care!!
