I am a 37 year old woman who has never had a reaction to a drug. I was prescribed Avelox for a sinus and bladder infection. After 2 days on this drug I started feeling like I couldn't speak and was slurring my words. it was like my tongue wouldn't work. I wrote it off at the time because I was also on an over the counter muscle relaxant. I also started noticing that my depth perception was off a bit. After the 3rd day My mouth started twitching and wouldn't stop for about 5 minutes. I had to push my mouth closed because I couldn't control it, nor could I speak. I went to emergency and the doctor told me that if it was a side effect I would have reacted earlier so he wasn't convinced that was the problem, so I should just go home and see if it gets worse. I would like to know what worse is, convulsing on the floor while home alone with 4 young children? I immediately went off the medication and will not touch it again. I have never reacted to anything so this was a shock to me.
