I too am on both these meds. I have been on them since June of 1991 when I had a second seizure. Usually I only suffered one a year. That year I suuffered one in January then in June. I haven't had a grand maul since. Thank God. However, it has been frighteningly revealing reading about the side effects that others have experienced. I am supposed to take 1000mg QD, but I can't afford it so I only take 500 QD instead. Seems to be okay. However, there are some instances when I can tell things aren't right. Like not being able to walk straight. Or talk -- have you ever had the thought in your brain but it just won't go from you brain to your mouth? Since people don't really understand those of us with seizures, epilepsy, TBI, etc., there is not much compassion. I found that the Epilepsy Foundation and the magazine Epilepsy Advocate are great sources of information. There is also a book of drug & vitamin interaction precautions on TheGoodCook.com. That is another thing that doctor's don't know much about. Did you know that there are eight pages of DPIs for Depakote and Tegretol alone?! Yep. Did you know that we are also supposed to be on a special diet? Yep. It's called the Ketogenic Diet. Check it out. You might feel better. Hopefully I have helped you as well as others. If you need anything let me know. "___"
