I have been taking 40mg of Protonix daily for months now. I agree with the above posting, it is the best releif I have ever found for stomach problems. I used to be plagued with severe heartburn waking me up in the middle of the night. I would get heartburn from spicy foods, ice water, and numerous other things. I have honestly not had heartburn once since I started taking the Protonix. I took it initially for two weeks and thought I could stop taking it after that. All my symptoms returned on day one of not taking the rx. I have been on it ever since with no noticeable side effects.
Watch your hair,skin, nails, after taking it for a long time. It has completely dried out my hair and rearranged it's structure. I have had acne, and skin rashes.My hair is the main problem, It is impossible to manage, I'm not loosing it, but it is extremely dry, and soaks up moisturizers immediately. I realize now I took it too long, getting all of my hair cut off Tommorrow, and got off Protonix. My doctor should have told me only 8 week.
