I have taken Questran for many years. I had my gallbladder removed in 1984. I suffered from chronic diarrhea thereafter. This was the first drug to help at all. Then, I started having a lot of problems absorbing vitamins & medicines. I have iron-deficient anemia & my hair is thinning. I recently switched to WelChol; but it doesn't seem to work quite as well so far. Instead of 1 pkg a day, I take 6 pills a day with meals. I do seem to be bringing my iron back up. I can take meds any time too. I'm not sure what side effects this drug has though.
