My mom is 64 and was put on a continuous IV morphine drip for about 5 days. The first day it was given to her she was awake and alert. That night, she fell after getting out of bed. Since then, she is in this "almost coma". That's the only way I can describe it. She doesn't move, eat, speak...nothing. Now she is opening her eyes real wide, but she still can't move or speak. It's like she is trapped inside herself. She was on the continuous drip about 2 weeks ago. After the 5th day, she was only given it "as needed". As of yesterday, they finally took her off of it completely. I really hope the effects of this leave her system soon so I can have my mother back.
