I have been taking Elmiron for just over a month. I was told to 100mg 3 times a day at 8 hour intervals on an empty stomach. Nearly impossible, but am taking it 3 times at 6 - 7 hour intervals. Have just started experiencing black bowel movements and a feeling of acid indigestion. I too am concerned about taking this for the rest of my life - I'm 50 and don't like having to take ANY medication...but, this beats the awful symptoms of IC. I suffer migraines, but no problems in that department yet with the Elmiron. Would like to not worry about having to take it on an empty stomach.
