Lipitor Skin Specialist, Memory Loss, Left Leg, Rashes, Rash

My husband is 46 years old. He has been taking Lipitor for over 8 years. He has had several of the side effects mentioned. He has had memory loss, pain in his feet and joints. He also has had problems sleeping. ... more »

My husband is 46 years old. He has been taking Lipitor for over 8 years. He has had several of the side effects mentioned. He has had memory loss, pain in his feet and joints. He also has had problems sleeping.

In the past two months he has developed a rash. It first started on his left leg. He went to his doctor and told him of his problem. The doctor told him to just try an over the counter medicine for rashes. He tried this and it did not help. The rash is now all over his body. He has been going to a skin specialist for the last three weeks.

The doctor took him off of the Lipitor and the rash has started to clear up. It is going to leave black spots all over his body. Has anyone else out there had any of these side effects?

Kookoo - I have been off Lipitor for almost 5 months now and I do feel better. I also have a recurring rash. Even since I have stopped the drug when I have a flareup of neck and arm pain the rash reappears. Strange symproms but I am hopeful there is a light at the end of this Lipitor Tunnel! KooKoo

Bcooper - I am 45 years of age and have been taking lipitor now for just over 6 months. I noticed two month back that I started having what I thought were heat blisters spread over numerous areas of my body. Most in areas exposed to the sun. I live in Alhambra, CA. and it tends to get very hot in the months leading upto and throughout the summer season. I have been trying numerous over the counter creams to try to get this breakout under control, but when it seems to be clearing up the outbreak seems to start all over again. I am unsure if it is the Lipitor but I will pull myself off of it as of today and see what happens. I am scheduled to see my doctor in August and hope he can figure out what the cause of this outbreak is. At least I would had pulled myself off of the Lipitor for one month before I see him and hope this all clears up before then. You mentioned dark spots left behind from where your husbands rash are located, I too have these dark spots left from where the blisters have dried up and they appear to diminish as the months pass.

Lorenzo - Yes I've had a rash on my neck area for about 5 months and the "NURSE" finely told me to stay off the Lipitor. That was 8 days ago. How long does it take to get rid of the rash. Look's like it drying up at times then it looks red again. Please reply.

Roe50 - OMG I just read this and have the same rash that is leaving black spots all over my arm. When I went to the doctor I had an argument with her ...she was trying to tell me I had Shingles . I told her I did not ... Now I know exactly what I have.. I am stopping the Lipitor immediately.. Also tell you husband to try scar zone on the spots seems to be helping mine. Thank you for posting.

777 - roe50 . . . .good that you will stop this DANGEROUS drug that cause MANY side effects. I am a victim of this POISON, so, I learned the hard way. The drs. and the drug co's are doing a SCAM on the anti-cholesterol drugs . . .BIG $$ business. In reality, your mind/body NEEDS cholesterol to function properly.. . .DON'T LET YOUR DR. TO CON YOU !!!
