I'm 55 yrs. old with no history of HPB. Recently my Dr. said I my BP was elevated and put me on the very expensive drug Cozaar (50 mg) Since it was $76 every 30 days, my insurance company said to see if the Dr. would prescribe Lisinopril (10 mg). It's only $10 for 90 days at Wal-Mart. He agreed to do that and I took if for four days before breaking out in the worst rash I've ever had. It started around my ankles then up my legs and was itchy like hundreds of mosquitoes biting me all the time. I was on vacation and had to find another Dr. for some advice. I told him a rash is listed as one of the side effects of Lisinopril and he said, "Don't read that stuff, it's NOT the Lisinopril." He gave me a steroid shot and prescribed some steroid cream which helped, but didn't cure it all. I took myself off this drug well over a week ago after being on it for only six days and even though some of the rash is better, I'm still breaking out in new areas of my legs. I also had the severe cough, was lightheaded, had chest pains, shortness of breath and generally fatigued. Since I have stopped the Lisinopril on my own everything is better, except the rash. It continues but not as bad as it was.
