Lisinopril Mucus in the Throat, Skin Problem, Hydrochlorothiazide, Blisters, Tinnitus

I've been taking Lisinopril/Hydrochlorothiazide 20mg/12.5mg for 2 years and only yesterday discovered that it could be the cause of my extremely itchy, tingly, burning skin and lots of little blisters/sores. I've also noticed that my cheeks look flushed all the time and I've had a terrible time with postnasal drip and mucus in the throat. I've had some coughing fits here and there. Also, was suddenly struck with tinnitus in one ear.
Today I have stopped the 20 mg daily dose of Lisinopril and will never take that poison again. I'm now convinced it has been the cause of my skin problem and who knows what else! I bookmarked this page so I'll let you know what happens down the road.

Hollandgirl - Hi, I wanted to let you know that last April, I began having terribly itchy skin and hives after being on 5 mgs. of Lisinopril for six months. To make a long, terrible story, short, after almost nine months, of being off this poison, I am finally starting to feel better! I spent thousands of dollars on specialist Doctors, allergists, etc., and nothing helped with my skin until this poison finally made its way out of my body! My skin started out so itchy, with red streeks showing up when I itched. Then, I began having hives, then swelling to the point that I gained 20 lbs. in water weight due to the poison in my body. I could not wear shoes for 4 months because of the swelling. Then these terrible sores appeared and my skin turned hard and scaled off becoming raw. I was told I got Johnson Stevens Syndrome from this terrible poison. I lost most of my skin...to the point to where the places I had small moles, etc. they are now gone! I was very depressed, had joint pains to the point where I could not even sit for any length of time, and didn't sleep for three months....I could only sleep for one hour intervals due to the cramping and itching. I would rather be dead than to ever have this again. Please be careful with this crap...it is deadly, and I pray that no one ever has to go through what I did!

Area_code_860 - My doctor up'ed my dose to 20mg and about a week after doing so I started breaking out in hives , lips swelling and eyes swelling . I have itched my legs raw & can't sleep at night . I have been off the meds for 3 weeks now & the symptoms are finally starting to fade a little more every day. I have never felt more helpless the I have for the last month ....complete misery!!!

Cayro - It's been 2 mos. since I quit Lisinopril/HCZ and I still have the itchy, tingly skin problem with little blisters. A recent blood test showed elevated liver enzymes - which I didn't have before. I hope this drug didn't do permanent damage. The doctor replaced Lisinopril with Losartan.....doesn't seem to have much effect on my BP so far. Thank to all who replied!
