i have been on Loette for almost a year now. I have not felt 'right' the whole time. I've been excessively emotional, had a lot more headaches, night sweats, swollen and/or tender breasts, decreased sex drive and difficulty having an orgasm, to the point where i was wondering what the hell was wrong with me. Also had moments of insane anger followed by depression. I had been off the pill for about 3 years, having previously been on Diane since I was a teenager for acne. I didn't realize how much I liked being off the pill until I went back on it! Now looking into alternative birth control options.
Justwanttobehappy - oh my gosh, i hear you. I have been on loette for the past 5 months and its made me so overly emotion and depressed. Its usually around my period that i start to get down and if something is upsetting (like not seeing my boyfriend for a while bc he lives 3 hours away) i get SO SO upset. Even though we have our issues, i find i cant talk them through and move forward as fast because my mind is so negative. i know understand how it feels to have depression...i cry intensely at nothing that warrents such tears. i hate feeling this way!!! it would be good to know i am not alone. i wish i was in contact with women who have been through it too.
Jaki89 - Wow thankyou for reassuring me that I wasnt just going through a sudden mental breakdown..I've only been on Loette for 3 weeks and I feel like a depressed old cow.. I can;t get motivated to do anything and all the things taht excite me so much in life haven't made a difference, I can;t stop thinking negatively and I've just screwed up a new realtionship that i was so excited about before i went on this damn pill! I can't speak positively at all and I'm usually known for being the most assertive happy girl around..finding out that the pill could be the reason for my insane emotional breakdowns has been the first thing to excite me in ages...If i go straight off it again will I get back to my normal self? or does it take a few weeks to get out of my system? Damn being a girl hey..why cant boys make all the babies so we don;t have to take these stupid drugs! thankyou!
Anybody_der - my doc prescribed this pill to me....for polycystic ovaries...not too sure if i have tak d drug...too confused....any help??
Klynne - I felt all those things on other birth control pills and after trying about 8 different pills I actually felt normal on Loette. I guess pills just effect us all differently. A doctor once told me, you don't just buy one pair of shoes, you have to try on many. There may be a birth control pills out there that may be the right fit for your body. It's a shame some Doctors will tell you, if you don't feel right with one Birth Control Pill you probably won't feel well on any of them. But that's just not true, they all effects us in slightly different ways. Even generic versions of the same pill would effect me differently. So if you like the convenience and protection of the pill, you may want to try more. I find that by 3 months I know if it's effecting me good or bad. Good luck to you!
Jorjen - I was doing some research on this pill cause I have been taking it for two weeks. I have to tell you it has been terrible. I have had terrible nausea about 4 hours after taking the pill, crying over everything, bleeding the whole time, dizzy, heart burn and really terrifying dreams where I wake up gasping for breath. I went on it because I have endometriosis and this was meant to help. I am sooo happy to come off it. I hope I can find a better solution. This pill is evil!
Ev1 - I've tried a few different pills and they always made me depressed, overly emotional and out of control. My boyfriend told me he'd rather wear condoms that be with me like that! Anyway, after a few years we decided to try again and I was given Loette. I actually still feel like me! I am completely myself and have no more mood swings than the odd few days of PMT that I would usually get. I used to get sore boobs the week before my period and they are gone - infact they look slightly better! I haven't put on any weight either. Its a massive thumbs up from me! My only niggles are that the 'breakthough' bleeding the doctor warned me about is the equivalent of 2 periods a month! I have been on it for 5 months and the second 'period' is showing signs of slowing down marginally. Obviously this is a huge pain the ass. And my period pain is actually worse than when I was on it - not painful just the usual hightened and lasting longer. I'm hoping the 2 period thing stops soon as that is the only reason why I would come off it. Hope this helps!

Leah Wana - i have been prescribed loette on top of hav the implanon bcoz of the fact that i have bleed for months. with taking the loette i have become depressed and my mood swings are uncontrollable. at times i wonder y i have even been angry for. loette has not changed my bleeding wat so ever just made it more frequent and annoying, wanting to try something else that will take effect almost immediately so the bleeding stops or atleast go backs to normal.
Ladyaussie - This is my 3rd year of Loette and I feel normal. I lost some kilos initially, but my weight remained the same since then - and I was worried about stacking on the pounds! I was initially prescribed this for cysts on my ovaries, and it has definitely worked. It has shortened my once 9 day period to a normal length, as well as lessened the flow, and gotten rid of cramps almost entirely. It also helped my skin a litte.
The biggest problem with Loette is that you really can't afford to take them too much later than your normal time as it triggers bleeding. Sometime in the first year I missed a pill and then bled very lightly for about 2 months. You have to keep on taking it at 7am (for me) on the dot every day for weeks (skipping the white pills) until it corrects itself. Unfortunately the other day I took my pill 7 and a half hours late and I am bleeding. I am hoping that a few weeks of prompt pill taking will make it go away. Fingers crossed!
Fluffer81 - I have just came off Yasmin, due to excessively high estrogen levels (800% too high) which were causing relentless depression and anxiety.
The doctor has prescribed me Loette (because it is low in estrogen), and she told me to think about having the Mirena Implant (due to it being Estrogen-free).
Both seem to have a lot of negative reviews.
I am really worried about the depression side of it, and weight gain.
Has anyone tried both contraceptions that have had issues with depression from the pill?

Finding this post has probably made me the happiest ive been in .. i reckon 2 weeks. When i was younger I was on the pill, mainly because i wanted everything regulated. Decided to come off due to making me really crazy and my mum couldn't handle my antics.
Anyway now being 21, in a relationship.. I thought, hey lets try something with a little less dosage. Doc said Loette will do the trick.. My poor poor boyfriend. We have been fighting NON stop the last two weeks, making up, fighting.. all because I have become this crazy, insecure , jealous and really just.. unpleasant person. Obviously, im going to stop today. But i worry now about what to do, whether or not there is even a pill for us crazy ladies who LOETTE seems to be effecting. Anyone found a pill that doesn't do this crazy stuff?

Jorjen - Echum, your message reminded me of myself so much when I was on this pill. I still remember crying hysterically down the phone to my boyfriend. I was jealous and angry. I ended up having a Merina put in (an IUD). It took me 2 months to get over the cramping (not as bad as a period for me though) but after 2 months it was like heaven. I had it in for 2 years and I didn't have a period or pain for the whole time. It had no effect at all on my mood.. if anything I gained confidence.
Echum90 - Jorjen - thanks for replying ! Oh did you have any sort of mood swings or feel angry after gettig the implant ? Cramps are bearable . Constantly fighting does my head in!!!!!!
La_phil - Ladyaussie i would like to ask your opinion since you've been using loette for such a long time..(im a new user by the way) will it affect if i drink beer and hard drinks let say 3-4 times a week for a whole month? the thing is im coming back to my homeland after not being home for like 4yrs. so as expected im going to party a lot for a month catching up with friends..and im a little confuse with the leaflet instructions.. should i start on a new pack if i start bleeding on day 22 (which is the inactive pill-white pill) or shall i finish the whole pack first?please help... thanks :)
Ladyaussie - - La_phil - I don't think how much you drink will affect how the pill works. I have had months where I have gone out heavy drinking at least twice a week and it had no affect on me.
As for the bleeding, it depends if you want to keep your period or not. If you want to keep your period, take all the white pills once you've finished all the pink pills. If you don't want your period, skip the white pills and start a new pack. I'd recommend trying not to skip your period too often.
If you start bleeding whilst still on the pink pills, continue taking the pink pills promptly at the same time as usual, and if you are still bleeding by the time you get to the white pills, skip them and start a new pack. By the time you reach the next set of white pills, you'll be fine.
If you start bleeding on the first day of the white pills and then decide you want to skip your period, start a new packet as soon as you can. However, this may not stop the bleeding altogether as your period has already been set in motion. This being said, I practically never bleed on the day of the first white pill, so given that you take the pink pill only a couple of hours after you make up your mind, you will skip your period.
