My Side Effect Posts

Coreg my 86 year old fantastically healthy father was started on coreg on feb 9. he does have rather high blood pressure. he started feeling weak, light headed, dizzy, short of breath, having diarrhea and frequent urination. when he complained to his doctor that he was feeling worse on the medication, the doctor suggested that it might be a UTI and asked for a urine sample. but all my dad's symptoms are clearly listed as side effects of coreg. why go looking for an awfully coincidental UTI? on Wednesday, dad took himself off coreg. he was feeling too bad. he threw up his lunch and is since feeling better as the medication leaves his system.
Levaquin i ave a friend who has just had a bad case of the flu which has turned into pneumonia. her doctor out her on levaquin! i almost had a heart attack, called her and begged her to stop it. i sent her a bunch of info about it. why not put her on augment, something with less chance of adverse effects. now i find she had a stroke over the weekend and is in the hospital! has anyone heard of anything like this on levaquin?
Gardasil a 14 year old British school girl died on Monday after a vaccination, not of Gardasil but of Cervarix, it's me-too competition. now that these drug companies have seen how lucrative it is to scare parents into inoculating their children, they'll all come out with their version of the vaccine, which means there will be more commercials and a harder sell as they compete for business. just opt out, people
Plavix my 85 yr old father had a slight heart attack recently. they put in a stent and a pace maker and sent him home with a slew of prescriptions- lipitor, plavix for 4 weeks, 2 BP meds, nexium for his daily baby aspirin. he decided to only take the baby aspirin and a licorice supplement i gave him to protect his stomach instead of the nexium. his doctor talked him into taking plavix for 14 days but he gave up on lipitor. he knew dad would never take it. anyway, i talked to dad tonight and he stopped taking plavix after just 9 days. he didn't like the way it made him feel. he said it made him tired. he felt great before he started taking it and he's feeling better now that he's stopped
Lipitor i have never taken lipitor and i never will but here's a warning for everyone- there is actually a company that sells reports for stock investors and they are advising people to invest in the company that makes the one of the only drugs used in the management of ALS. they predict that the ALS patient population (code for customers) will grow as a result of all the people on lipitor. ok, aside from the fact that it made me sick to my stomach that wall street views the potential suffering and death of ALS victims as a business opportunity (what else is new?), this is a pretty good indication that there is a link. it will probably take years for "science" to conclusively state the connection and for the FDA to take lipitor off the market in the meantime, save your own life. if you're not taking it, don't start. if you are, stop NOW! cholesterol is not the enemy
