Metoprolol Succinate ER Toprol Xl 100mg, Toprol Xl, Quinapril, Metoprolol, Dizziness

I am on this site because I am looking for answers. I just realized my headaches,dizziness and flu like symptoms have increased several times over since going from Toprol XL 100mg to Metoprolol Succinate ER 100mg a little over 3 months ago. Apparently my primary care doesn't read much about these drugs after he prescribes them.
However, one other side effect I notice is what I call brain pressure and throbbing. I also take Quinapril 20mg. Who knows, maybe they work against one another. Can anyone help?

L0neranger - I had the same problems, plus many others too numerous to mention. I also was taking the Toprol XL generic, as well as Quinipril. I don't think they interacted with each other. I just could not tolerate the generic (Metroprol). My dr was puzzled & seemed to think I had become a hyprocontriac (sp). I figured it out for myself tho, & talked him into putting me back on the Toprol XL. I felt much better after a couple of days. I have not had any problems lately. Thank God! Hope you will go back to Toprol XL

Lumulcahy2 - I have not felt good after switching to metroprol either. I have had numerous sores in my mouth and also flu like symptoms as well. I have low energy and numerous other side effects. My Dr. says this is not caused by the generic but, I think it is. I will have them switch me back to Toprol XL soon. Good Luck.

Rahni - I'm not taking any other medications but I have noticed that when I take the Metropolol, I've been getting dizzy, heart palpitations, and I'm so sleepy one hour after taking it, that I can't keep my eyes open even at work. I end up going into the ladies room to close my eyes. I have to bring this to my doctor's attention on the next visit. I've just recently started taking this medication.

Therevchick - I am on Metoprolol Succiante er 25 mgs. I noticed the difference when I changed from Toporol but was ok until I was given genertic Manufactor ETHEX and it feels like it is going to kill me. I just started it this week and my heart hurts and my back hurts and I cannot go to sleep at night and that is wiping me out totally. I can't get to my doctor right now but have 3 of the others left and will take them until I can get a new prescription
