Metoprolol Succinate Er Versus Benicar Hct

I have been taking benicar hct 20mg for 2yrs. Recently I requested my new doctor for a substitute because benicar hct was too expensive. I have been paying $35 after insurance versus $5 for the metoprolol. I however got a 100 mg metoprolol even though my BP was good. Could my doctor have been wrong in the dosage? I have not taken the medication yet as I still have the benicar hct. Please advise. Thank much.
