Morphine ER 30 Mg Given in Error, Shld've Been Morphine IR 30MG

A nat'l pharmacy gave my husband Morphine Sulf ER 30 mg in error. They should have given him Morphine Sulf IR 30 mg. They called and wanted to know if he had taken any of the pills yet. They seamed VERY concerned and want the pills back imkmediately. Not sure what could've happened. Any thoughts? -Very upset wife.
