Neurontin Peripheral Neuropathy, Decadron, Diet Program, Care Management, Time in My Life

I injured my neck on 11/1/09 and had peripheral neuropathy in addition to pain. I was on various meds., including neurontin and decadron. When I suddenly gained 12 lbs. in one week, I thought it was from decadron, which I was on for 14 days. By February I had gained about 35 lbs., and finally went off neurontin, but the weight is still coming off after going on a very expensive diet program. However, my brain used to be much clearer, and now I feel disabled. I used to work as a nurse in a hospital, but cannot do the bedside nursing due to the neck injury. I tried a different position in nursing (care management), and was very distressed to find that I was unable to do the work, and was "let go" for the first time in my life, after only 5 days of orientation. I am now in limbo, and do not know what to do. I am very lucky to be married, and have a spouse who is able to support both of us. I used to think I was smart, but now I feel I have no brain left, and wonder if I ever will! I wish I had never taken that awful drug.
