NuvaRing Nuva Ring, Restasis, Opthamologist, Eye Problem, Eye Problems

I have been on the NUVARing for 2 years and I'm 25. About 5 months ago I started having really really bad DRY EYE PROBLEMS. I have been to the ophthalmologist and I've been on restasis, refresh plus, Lotomax, and other ointment I put on my eyelids at night. The eye problem isn't getting much better. Also, I use to have super thick curly hair. I lose about a handful of hair a week and I don't think this is normal anymore.

I'm wondering if it is time to take out the ring. Any advice?

Southernamanda - This is really surprising...I'm glad I saw what you read. I too have had severe dry eye problems, and have been prescribed all the ointments you have. I never attributed it to the NuvaRing, though...I'm starting to get suspicious. Just recently out of the blue, I'm experiencing enormous PMS symptoms...hoping I'm not pregnant?? Anyone else have that as well??

Indys - My dry eye problem has become so severe in my left eye that I am no longer able to continue to wear contact lenses. Other than that, though, I have never experienced any major issues with the NR in the 4+ years I've been using it.

Jesicao - Have any of you found an answer to this problem? I posted the first complaint 2 years ago and I still can't wear contacts & have been having the dry eye issues. I'm pretty sure it the birth control even though none of my doctors think so...i need to get off the NUVA ring and go back to the regular pill. Thoughts?

Bca6987 - This is making me feel worlds better. I have been on the Nuva Ring for over 4 years. The last 4-6 months, I started having Night sweats/chills during my period where I would wake up in the middle of the night drenched and my eyes are so dry in the morning that I cannot even blink. I am 24 years old and I wear contacts on a daily basis but recently I have been only wearing glasses. I did some online research and found that if your estrogen levels are high and your testosterone levels are low, dry eyes result. I immediately put two and two together and figured I must be having a hormonal imbalance since Ive also been facing some pretty severe anxiety as well. I went to an opthamologist who only chose to try to treat the symptoms of dye eye and put me on all these drops and ointments, i spent an arm and a leg to get different contacts, and I still had problems. Then my opthamologist prescribed restasis which was going to cost me $250 a month. Im in school, and I work full time but no way in hell am I going to pay that. I was so frustrated that they only wanted to treat the symptoms and did not want to find the root cause of the problem! Im 24 years old people! This is not normal! To make a long story short I got a script today to switch to Beyaz which is the generic for yaz I guess, and I am going to get off the NUvaring!
