I have been on the nuvaring for 9 months now and exactly 1 month after starting it I had severe muscle spasms in my chest, back and diaphragm and my husband rushed me to the ER to find out my potassium had dropped to 2.7 I am a healthy, non smoking 27 year old, I have NEVER had a health problem until now. The only thing that changed in my life was my birth control. After battling it for 3 months and 3 more trips to the ER (all 4 weeks apart) I was diagnosed with "low potassium" and told it was a condition I inherited from my parents and now am on Aldactone 2 times a day and a potassium supplement. All my doctors swear that the nuvaring has nothing to do with it but I'm not convinced, I took out my last ring on Tuesday and will not be going back on it. Has anyone else had this problem?
