I have been taking Prilosec for several years without any side effects..My husband picked up script for me at pharmacy. They were out of Prilosec and filled script with Omerprazole. I have been taking this med for about a month now. Recently I have noticed muscle spasms, heart palpitations, headaches, night sweats. I asked the pharmacist yesterday if this could be related to this medication. She stated that yes this could be related. I will be switching back to Prilosec ASAP.
Y_lime - Omeprazole is Prilosec. Either something else is causing it or MAYBE there is a different filler in this generic brand that isn't in the very pricey original, you could look up ingredients differences and see if people have reactions to any of them but this is unusual. If you think this is the case another generic will be identical to the original. All are monitored by the FDA, generic is NOT cheaper because of quality issues, Name brands cost more because the pharm cos can charge whatever they like before they have any competition.Fillers are in all meds, most are usually harmless(magnesium, silica). I bet it's something else.
Teresa1964 - Look up all azoles.....I had a reaction to omerprazole, then one year later my son had a terrible reaction to metronidazole. There must be a common denominator ....all antifungals?
