Side Effects of Omeprazole That Sent Me to the ER

About 3 wks ago my doctor refilled my Prilosec script w/ Omeprazole (because it was cheaper for the insurance comp). After only 3 days of using the Omeprazole, I experienced moderate to severe headaches. I asked my Pharmacist if this was a side effect to Omeprazole and he said "NOT LIKELY" and to continue. He said that the Omeprazole had the same active ingredient but w/ "fillers". Then approx. 2 to 3 wks later I was driving (work) and experienced a sudden on set of a rapid heart beat accompanied w/ severe chest pain/pressure, shortness of breath,dizziness,L.shoulder pain w/ nausea and B/P (147/97). Ya know, something like a heart attack. So, I eventually get carted off my job via ambulance and sent to the ER to have many cardiac tests performed. EKG, blook work, sugar levels,stress test etc. which all came back neg. (Meanwhile, my wife, friends and family are having strokes all of their own after they find out that I am in the hospital due to a so called heart attack)! Eventually, I am released the next day to go home still feeling crappy. I felt like I was in a fog and still had some chest pressure. Once I found this site, I knew instantly that it was the Omeprazole that caused all my symptoms. Hope this helps anyone taking this medication. Who do you think I should bill for the ambulance ride and hospital stay... the doctor or the insurance comp.? Good Luck.........
