Started on Omnicef and Cetisporin ear drops for an ear infection last Friday. The next day the flatulence started and by Sunday, I was having loose bowels and a host of other side effects (pressure in head, transient muscle aches, back pain and disequilibrium), including one episode of shaking chills and a spike in blood pressure. Phoned the on-call doc Saturday and was told to stop the Cetisporin drops (I've lost hearing in my ear) but continue the Omnicef and see the doc on Monday. I was still feeling crummy by Sunday night that I stopped the Omnicef, too. Went in yesterday and was told to stay off the Cetisporin but continue the Omnicef and was given Maxifed for congestion. Started back on the Omnicef last night and the flatulence and loose bowels are back with a vengeance. Three BMs today already and it's only noon. I started on yogurt two days ago. As I'm allergic to Amoxil, I questioned having to take Omnicef to begin with but was told that only 10% of those allergic to penicillin drugs cannot tolerate Omnicef. I think I'm in that minority. I see the doc again on Thursday afternoon. I cannot wait to get off this stuff.
