Anyone had this problem? I was on prednisone for only 6 days (30mg tapering -5mg per day). I had total insomnia while on it and after stopping it I now have anxiety/fast heart rate and continued severe insomnia.
This has continued for 2.5 months and my doctor is baffled- he just keeps prescribing me sleeping pills. I just went without any sleeping pills for 5 days and still didn't sleep at all-
HELP!!!
Auto - I have same proble as yous have, and I still don't sleep more than 2-3 ouers.
I went 9 days on prenisone 2 years a go.
Have got your sleep back?
Ewohlust - I've also had this problem. I was on Prednisone 48 mg tapering down for 6 days in August 2011. Have not been able to sleep at all without sleeping pills since then, and not very much even with the pills. Have had to leave my job and am seeing whole life go down the drain. I wonder how many others there are out there, and how to get back to normal. I never had any trouble sleeping before then.

We are not alone the are many people that have come in same situation after just short term juse of prednisone and doctors have problem to belive us.
I have stop to juse sleeping tablets they was not helping. I use some herbs that helps better Can sleep 3-5 ouer fi lucky. And I have also reed little bit that it kan help to take prednisolone 2,5 mg some period to help hormone system to come back to normal.
If more people have lost there slieep and get insomnia after use prednisone or prednisolon? I wood like to know. Expecialy if some people got there sleep back.
Ewohlust - I have run across a few people who have seemingly permanent insomnia after taking prednisone, but don't know of anyone who has been able to cure themselves. Mine appears to be total insomnia, in that I don't sleep at all without drugs. I am on the benzo Flurazepam,which I have just started trying to taper. I have not heard of using 2.5 mg of prednisone to try to stabilize the hormone system. Has anybody out there been able to cure prednisone-induced long term insomnia?
