I have just seen my allergy specialist after a 3 month wait following an anaphalactic reaction to a tick bite. Coincidentally I experienced a severe allergic reaction (2nd time - on Sunday) to Chlorsig eyedrops and my specialist when he saw my eyes prescribed 2x25mg prednisone tabs once today, 1 1/2 25mg tomorrow, 1 the next day and 1/2 the last day. I have also been prescribed predneferin forte (prednisone) eyedrops by my own dr which I've been taking for 5 days, 3 times the first 2, twice the second 2 and then"as directed". I asked both the specialist & pharmacist if it was a problem but they didn't even really listen to what steroid drops they were or weren't concerned. They said I should continue with the eyedrops yet there are no directions given about how long for by them, on the script or the info supplied.
My symptoms after this one dose are jitters and racing heart as well as sweating all afternoon. I am concerned that I won't sleep. I have to say that I feel WIRED with tapping feet and hands constantly. I felt even worse that this after my hospitalization following the tick bite when I was given a massive injection of prednisone & phenergen. Didn't know where I was or what to do with myself.
Now that I have thought about this I am stopping the eyedrops. Everything you read about this drug tells you not to take too much or overdose.
I am required to carry this foul drug in case of anaphalaxis to use 2x25mg + 2x25mg claritine before administering adrenalin. My husband was prescribed it for cluster headaches and my son for his asthma. I have been researching the side effects for some time and every time one of us uses it I am nervous. The doctors all prescribe it at the drop of a hat for asthma in young children yet I have heard other specialists have told my sister in law it is a dreadful drug to be avoided & can cause infertility problems, especially in boys.
