2 months on lisinopril

should i stop suddenly I am having the bad hacking and choking? I am thinking switch to 1/2 for a week then 1/4 but if this stuff is poison is it safe to stop suddenly?

I told my doctor of this terrible cough i've been experiencing and thats when I found out that the medication was causing it. its horrible. I've since been switched to 'norvasc' and hope that doesn't creat a problem.
