3 year old with seizure disorder is coming off it

my 3 year old has had no seizures in 2 years. Doctor has advised us to start taking him off slowly.It is going on three weeks know and we have noticed a major change in his moods. Agitation, screaming-crying fits for no reason,off and on every day. Normally he is happy, pleasant,calm all the time . has never shown any of this before slowly coming off. Emergency room said that it wouldn't cause any of that,I am trying to get a hold of his neurologist, but in the mean time if anyone could help I would appreciate it.
