60 mg of prednisone for 7 days

My husband was prescribed 60 mg of prednisone along with Cipro to clear up an ear infection after 2 other antibiotics and a smaller round of prednisone didn't work. Is it OK to abruptly stop taking the prednisone after the 7 days?
