Adderall XR overdose

Posted at 1:10 PM on Apr 14, 2008 by jilliebean, #5645
My step-son decided last Thursday to steal my son's Adderall XR. He took 19 pills that were 10 mg each. At first he told us that he took them all at the same time, but then later changed the story to he took 5 pills each in 30 minute intervals. Either way, he ingested 190 mg of Adderall XR in a short period of time. He didn't sleep for 2 days straight and now is very, very angry and flat out mean. He refused to go to the hospital even though I was afraid he was going to die from it. The only way we could have him admitted was if we said he was trying to kill himself, which his mother would not do. He's 17, weighs about 230. What damage could this have on his body now, even though it's been 4 days? Should we still take him to the doctor? My personal opinion is that he needs to be in rehab, but you cannot force a 17 year old into rehab against their will, which I think is crap.

whos the parents in that house? I have 2 teenage daughters and if that happened in my house I would definetly seek medical attention. This boy is crying for help and by doing nothing it probably will send him a message that hes not important to his family. He most certainly needs some type of medical help and so does his mothering for not taking immediate action
