Are side effects permanent?

I was on Vytorin for about a year, ignoring the cramps in my legs, thinking it was from working out. Also, thought the insomnia was stress. Finally, after numbness, tingling and severe leg cramps, and all electrolytes norman, the MDs figured it was side effects from Vytorin. I've been off it for about a week with much improvement, not completely gone but better. My question to all of you is.....does the muscle weakness and stiffness ever go away completely? I'd appreciate your input.

Statin drugs do a number on a lot of us. I have been off my statin for almost 2 years and I am still asking if the damage is permanent, that is something no one can answer. Each of us are different, some heal, some don't. At first, I saw immediate improvement in just about everything and I had about 5 to 6 months of that I called "the honeymoon period", then something started attacking my joints, joint after joint. Each day I woke up, there would be a different joint in horriable pain, so bad that it was useless until it moved to a different joint. A year ago it landed in my right shoulder and that is where it has stayed..Some days, that shoulder is to painful to lift up my arm, the pain never goes away, it is just easier to live with some days.. The weak, heavy legs went away within days of quitting the drugs but there are days that even now, they get weak and heavy and I am 2 years off. For me, it seems to be never ending... The ONLY health problem I had prior to statins was high cholesterol.
