Benicar and anashesia

Posted at 12:55 PM on Jun 27, 2007 by jplum, #2485
Are there any known side effects with Benicar and general anasthesia? I encountered a sitaution where the only change I had was that I was taking Benicar and Sular for BP when I had general anathesia, and IMMEDIATELY after the surgery I had BOTH little fingers in my hands experience a numbness. It has improved but the most immediate improvement came when I cut my Benicar dosage in half.

I have been taking Benicar for about 3 years. 2 years ago I was jogging and in the middle of my run both feet became numb and tingling. The fact that both feet simultaneously began to hurt has been a mystery. Benicar was the only medication taken at the time. Four different doctors and a neurologist later we still don't have any solid diagnosis. I stopped taking my Benicar the other day. Obviously my blood pressure began to rise but my feet tingling and burning improved. Is there any reported link to tingling and burning feet with Benicar usage

I had a similar problem with both little fingers in the hands after I had general anasthesia for BPH surgery. Going into it I was OK when I came out I had the numbness in the fingers. The doctor who prescribed the Benicar says there is no way that it caused the problem. I likewise cut my Benicar in half and the numbness started to go away. Now I am going back on it because of the BP issue and I will be watching for any reactions. Will keep you posted if you send me a link to your email address.
