Can I stop taking Synthroid medication?

My doctor is very frustrated with me lately because I have been fluctuating with my thyroid levels. A month ago it was 0.45 and now its 5.33 I have been on the same dose meds but I have hashimoto's disease of the thyroid. I had gotten so sick from my normal dose a few days here and there(like I was on speed) so I asked him to lower my dose and he did. Well I was still getting real nervous and shaky from time to time so I called to tell him and instead of lowering the dose he told me to just stop taking the meds for a month them come back and be tested. I tried to do that today and by this afternoon I started feeling a little confused and feeling bad like I'm getting a cold and then i started shaking and freezing.I took half of my meds and I am starting to feel better. I have been on synthroid for about 6 yrs now. What do I do?

Is your family doc diagnosing the thyroid disease or an endocrinologist!!! Find another endocrinologist soon! Get all your labs to take with you. You should be having TSH,t3,t4 done every 3-6 months because your levels fluctuate so much. I also have Hashimoto,s autoimmune disease but my TSH has always been very low(overactive) until i changed labs. Since my TSH is only borderline low!! I don,t take synthroid YET but i have been gaining weight. I changed endocrinologists!. Good luck.
