constipation, short term memory loss

My mom is 85 and has been taking ambien for about 2 years every night, usually 5 mg but has recently started taking a whole 10mg at night. Wakes up at night, eats chocolate, cookies....no biggie but has problems with short term memory loss, constipation, dizziness during the day could it be related to the constant medication at night?
