desogen & cholesterol?

I have been taking Desogen for the past eight months, previously on Ortho trycyclene. I am forty, and I have a father that has had bypass surgery, so when my prescription was due I was ordered to have a cholesterol test. My results at the time were in normal range. I am very active and do not eat red meat or dairy. I changed my prescription to Desogen and have just recently had another cholesterol test, nothing has changed physically with me, but now my results are in the highest range. Although I am not getting the breakthru bleeding that I had with Ortho, I am getting anxiety prior to my period, bloating, gas and water retention. Could Desogen have anything to do with my increased cholesterol?
