Diovan HCT Allergic Reaction and paralysis

Posted at 12:11 PM on Oct 18, 2007 by svprecept, #3591
My wife had a severe allergic reaction to Diovan HCT within a few minutes of taking a pill. Excrutiating back pain was followed by a general diagnosis of Peripheral Neuoscopy. Some numbness in hands, pins and needles. Worst side effect is paralysis (drop foot) in both feet, much pain and soreness, pins and needles. She went from and very physically active person to an invalid in just a couple of weeks. Medical community still working on specific diagnosis. MRI's, CT Scans, X-rays, and complete examination by neurologist have confirmed the peripheral nerve damage in both sensory and motor nerves of hands and lower legs and feet. Now waiting results of a couple of nerve and muscle tissue biopsies to see if the underlying problem can be identified. Does anyone have similar experience with Diovan HCT or of one of it's components, Lisinopril?

I realize this was 2 yrs ago; but your post hit melike a ton of bricks. Please tell me how your wife is doing now? I went through a few yrs of no diagnosis to all the things you mentioned.AND WORSE! They thought I had M.S.; and you name it,I was in and out of remission like periods. I'd wake up fine and get in my car & all of a sudden go weak & barely make it home or put one foot in front of the other. I am still on this medicine. Can your wife function ok now? One day a few yrs ago I was unable to raise a glass of water to my mouth for an entire day after I began the day fine- until I took my pill at breakfast. It was like a strange mystery.Write "re diovan post" in subject line of post so I dont spam it. Thank you very much. Mrs.S
