Does Vytorin cause any kind of problems in the arteries? Is plaque addressed when taking this drug? Is this drug safe?

Vytorin is a drug that is used to treat high cholesterol, so it would actually be better for your arteries. It has two components in it and two mechanisms of action. 1) It stops the synthesis of cholesterol in your body. 2) It also prevents the absorption of cholesterol into your body (it doesn't absorb all the cholesterol in your food). It does not have any direct action on arterial plaques as far as dissolving them or anything like that. I don't know what you mean when you ask if this drug is safe... All drugs have adverse reactions. In this case, you might experience muscle pain (report to your doctor immediately), headache, dizziness, diarrhea. Those are probably the most common side effects. My dad was actually taking Vytorin but he changed drugs because he got pains in his joints. There are other choices to treat cholesterol so if you feel this doesn't work for you, ask your doctor about the possibility of trying something else.
