Effexor vs effexor xr

What is the difference. To taper off can I mix and match effexor and XR because they don't make XR in as many sizes and I want to taper down by 12.5 mg each week. I would have to use some effexor pills 100mgs and 50mg and 25 mgs in order to do this.

The difference is that one is extended release and releases slowly throughout a period of time through your body. If you are on this med and you want to taper off Id suggest you discuss this with your Dr because when I was on the xr effexor Id have bad withdrawls that made everyday life almost unbearable. You need to discuss and create a plan of action with your Dr so you can go off as easy as possible, when I stopped I just quit cold turkey because my insuranse changed and my prescription went to 300$ a month and It lasted almost a month before I felt somewhat normal. I didnt talk to my Dr, you should.
