Geodon and Effexor XR for my disorder

i am diagnosed with SCHIZOTYPAL PERSONALITY DISORDER and SHIZOPHRENIA PRODROM. my doctor has prescribed me with Geodon 80 mg and Effexor 75 mg which i will up in two weeks time. i would like to know how these medications are supposed to help, what they do and if these are the best choises for me? thank you
