Glad I stuck to my convictions

I don't really have a question but more of a statement. My son is 15 and has seasonal allergies, in May - June he gets very bad and his asthma acts up. That is the only time I allow the Dr. to put him on Singulair or any other prescribed medication for his allergies. Throughout the year if he needs some medication to get him through the day I will give him Claritin. A few yrs back the allergist wanted to put him on Singulair all the time, but I told him that if he is only bad two months out of the year that I couldn't see having him on a medication for the rest of the year. The dr. got upset with me and basically told me I was a bad mother, but I'm I stuck by my convictions, because if I can manage his symptoms and let his body deal with what's going on without having him too uncomfortable, then I would prefer that over any of the side effects of being on this medication long term. I actually came on here to ask if he was on too low of a dosage, but I'm not going to complain as long as he is getting relief that is all that matters. When the season is over he will be coming off of it anyway. Thank You all for your stories and questions they really made me think and made me feel much better about my decision. Satisfied Mother in NB, Ma.
