How many mgs of singular should a 26 yr old man that weighs about 215 lbs take?He was prescribed singular a couple of weeks ago for hives and didn't fill the prescription because it was going to be too expensive but my son has some samples from the doctor's office that he has taken the last couple of days and they are 10 mgs.It seems that if he took 2 of them that they might just go away BUT I'm not sure what dosage they actually gave him cause he lost the prescription and it is the weekend.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CONTINUING TO USE SINGULAIR: Singulair is not FDA approved for the treatment of hives. Read "Montelukast Is Not Effective in Controlling Allergic Symptoms Outside the Airways" http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?Aktion=ShowFulltext&ArtikelNr=189198&ProduktNr=224161 When reading this article, know that the term "urticaria" refers to "hives." Singulair 10mg is approved for adults and teens age 15 and up. The FDA just verified that Singulair can cause NEUROPSYCHIATRIC side effects, including ANXIETY and DEPRESSION. These side effects can affect both children and adults. For a link to the FDA's latest information about Singulair and comprehensive information about Singulair's side effects, visit www.parentsforsafety.org.
